Antipodes Festival 25th Anniversary

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Antipodes. The Festival emerged in the late 1980’s with the vision to transcend cultural boundaries and the passion to share our culture and traditions within the State of Victoria. The Antipodes Festival is indicative of the cultural diversity that Melbourne has to offer. We invite you all to celebrate this significant milestone
You are all invited to embrace and participate in this year’s celebratory activities thus highlighting the importance of cultural diversity in our society.

Glendi 2012

The Greek Community of Melbourne and the Antipodes Festival are delighted to announce that Pantelis Thalassinos will be performing a free concert at the 2012 Lonsdale Street on Saturday 25 February. Thalassinos has one of the greatest voices in Greece, with lyrics that have moved and inspired thousands.
The Lonsdale Street Glendi, is a highlight of the Antipodes Festival, attracting over 150,000 people in a single weekend. A free event held in City of Melbourne’s Greek Precinct, Lonsdale Street (between Russell and Swanston Streets), the Glendi (= a party; a feast; to gather and have fun), boasts two main stages showcasing 300 performers, local and international acts, children’s activities, cooking demonstrations and food stalls.
Join us as we celebrate Greek apokries – the tradition of carnivalé, in the heart of Melbourne. It promises to be two days of frivolity, food and free entertainment for the whole family.
